Fairuza Law and Rock Woods, two young adults still finding their way around Aurora Skies, fall into a predictable routine. They wake up around the same time and eat cheap cereal, then Rock kisses Fairuza goodbye and bikes to city hall for his job.
After Rock's departure, Fairuza bikes to the gym.
No matter how fast she runs, she cannot escape herself.
Fairuza makes friends with other fitness nuts.
When she grows tired of the gym she goes back to the cottage and waits for her boyfriend's return. She still hasn't dared to test the television, so there's nothing to do but stare out the window.
Rock always greets her with a hug, a kiss, and a fresh round of gossip from the office.
They flip a coin to decide who has to cook dinner.
Fire! How exciting!
Good thing Rock stepped out to the grocery store for more lettuce and isn't here to see this.
Before the hour grows too late they always leave the house to do something. They bike and jog together, or bowl together, or meet up with acquaintances for cheap drinks.
Wherever they decide to go, Rock tends to get distracted trying to meet new people.
Charisma skill ain't gonna raise itself.
Rock bulked up in high school to impress girls, and now he's stuck with all of these exercise habits and a hot muscular bod that needs constant maintaining. Luckily maintaining a hot bod counts as a couples activity with Fairuza.
The day ends where it started... in bed. Rock stays up late reading something for work, while Fairuza empties her mind and snoozes.
Rock's boss was supposed to meet with local musician Stein Svard about an endorsement, but something important came up last-minute so Rock is sent to have lunch with Stein instead.
Svard cocks his head to the side and scrunches his eyebrows up in a condescendingly sad way. Rock thinks he's just going to walk away, but then...
...Svard leans in, inappropriately close. "Your boss," he says, "is a flaky bastard."
The two men proceed to discuss the business arrangement over lunch at the bistro.
Fairuza never thought she'd be so happy to see a season like autumn.
Her lowly
Money is tight, but it isn't the extra income she's happy about. She just wanted something to do, something new to focus on.
A forest beast chooses to strike when both humans are at work.
The first thing they do with the new cashflow is purchase a better stove. The leaky sink is annoying, but not life threatening, so the stove takes priority over that... and every other thing in the cottage that needs replacing.
Rock and Fairuza have dreams of moving into a bigger house someday, so they don't invest in making the one they currently own feel like a home.
However, they are young, and the passage of time grates on their nerves. Life goals not yet achieved make them antsy. Everything takes longer than they thought it would. So little by little, they move forward on things they wanted to do "later" when they had "more money".
They decide they will put Fairuza's surname on the paperwork. A hyphenated name over-complicates things, and Rock has always liked his own name, but he aims to be elected to public office one day and 'Rock Woods' has a sort of folksy ring to it that's sure to make some people think 'conservative' while 'Rock Law' sounds just ridiculous enough to grab people's attention. So it's settled.
The couple cannot pay for a wedding party, but Rock's friends surprise him with a bachelor party.
Rock avoids any expensive cocktails at the bar. He sates his hunger bar with a free hot dog, and catches up with how Stein Svard is doing.
The Svard brothers are well known around Aurora Skies, but unlike Fjord Warbler, they can't get noticed anywhere else. Wrong place, wrong time... and to make things worse, Stefan just took a job at the local paper! How dare he put money before their music?! Stein can't understand it.
Rock feels bad no one threw Fairuza a party, so he surprises her with a new television and a home exercise 'machine' she's been wanting but holding off on. A treadmill or weight set would have been over-budget, but a few metal bars stuck to pieces of wood is just about affordable.
Fairuza is almost done with a wish to work out for six hours straight when Rock gets his dumb face struck by lightning, causing her to drop everything to go check on him.

Etc.: I forgot how stupid athletic trait wishes could be. Work out for 6 hours straight, work out for 8 hours straight! Bah. Going that long without something interrupting the sim can be difficult. Stopping for any reason resets the timer. Combined with her rabbithole job, finding the time for these marathon workouts is a challenge in and of itself.

Is Rock alright?! So scary! I've never had a sim get struck by lightning o_o What a terrible thing to happen right before a wedding!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that they're getting hitched, though I am a bit disappointed they didn't go for Woods-Law. Makes me think of elven police, which is kind of badass. XD
Haha, he's fine. :) Just a little crispy.
DeleteMaybe they went for Woods-Law in a different save.
What about something folksier, such as Rockwoods Law? Sounds slightly snooty and still 'down home'. The lumberjack lawman, fit as a fiddle and ready to indict people.
ReplyDeleteGlad they can work out together, that's nice to see. I'm sad I've never seen a sim get struck by lightning in my game. Sad, yet so not sorry.
I remember in the days of TS2 trees used to catch on fire too, houses in that game must have been impossible to insure.
I played sims 1, but all of my sims2 knowledge is secondhand. =O
